The Master Plate

The cover plate of the fernie™ character bible: the rest state at full size, the name lockup, and the one line that explains the job. It ships as the opening page wherever the bible travels — brand guidelines, onboarding decks, the design system. Leading with rest sets the tone: this is staff that waits until it is needed.

The Six States

All six faces of the product's state machine on one strip, labeled in canonical order. It ships in the design system so anyone picking a state can see the whole range at once. Side by side, the differences read clearly — small changes in the eyes and mouth do all the work.

The Proportion Grid

The construction plate: the face on its 48-by-58 grid with construction guides, dimensions, and the clear-space ring. It ships in the brand guidelines for anyone placing the mark in a layout. The numbers exist for placement only — the symbol ships as one piece and is never rebuilt.

fernie™ · motion ident nº 1 — the blink

the blink

A few seconds of almost nothing: fernie™ at rest, blinking once per cycle. It runs on idle screens, loading states, and booth displays that need a sign of life without a sales pitch. The stillness is deliberate — a helper that can wait quietly is easier to trust.

night watch

One lit window in a dark building, and fernie™ in it. The vertical loop is cut for story placements and lobby screens; the lamp pulses at a breathing pace while the clock reads 2:14 AM. The implied work is real — overnight voicemails become orders that wait in the morning approval queue.

the nod

Order lines file past on their way to the approval queue, and the done face dips once per cycle to see them off. It loops behind dashboards and waiting states. The nod is an acknowledgment, not a bow — every chip still exits toward a person.

fronds in the breeze

fernie™ sways one degree under a warm lamp, crown and all; the fronds behind drift on the same breeze, and that is the entire event. It loops in ambient placements: idle screens, the end card of a demo reel, the wall at a show. One degree is the point — fernie stays calm even when it moves.

The Hierarchy

The relationship stated as a picture: the grower's boots hold the foreground and fernie™ rides along in a pocket, lit up with the overnight queue. The scene settles top-down — sentence, screen, then the approval count — so the order of importance is also the order of appearance. Opens the fernie-and-growers set on the site and in the character-bible deck.

The Correction

The grower trims an order fernie™ created from 88 down to 80, and the card shows what happens next: the strike lands, the new number goes in, and fernie takes the note without argument. The edit animates before fernie speaks because the edit is the point. Ships in the relationship set and in onboarding material about who has the final say.

The Trust Ladder

The ramp drawn without pretending it is instant: check everything in week one, spot-check by the second season, and by year two fernie™ flags while you fly. The attendance joke recut so the punchline is the grower: two OUT chips, one late arrival, and fernie™'s row lit IN since midnight. A frost advisory lands, a hairline draws, and one action card rises while the face holds still. Could a grower read this as fernie sending or deciding?

yes → stop. fernie creates; growers approve.

fernie Lore

Origin, the name, the manifesto, the desk. For our walls. INTERNAL.

INTERNAL▸ SETTLES1200x750
LORE · NO. 1 · ORIGIN
grown,
not built.
the fern mark kept unfurling until it had a face. it looked around the greenhouse, found the paperwork, and took the night shift. fernie™ has held it ever since.

Origin — grown, not built

The first page of the lore section: fernie was grown out of the fern mark, not assembled from parts. The koru unfurls, hands the frame to the rest face, and settles behind it as a watermark. It hangs on internal walls, not in customer decks.

LORE · NO. 2 · THE NAME
fernie
that's signage.
fernie
that's a brand asking for attention.
fernie
that's staff.
lowercase, always — fernie is staff, not signage. the name goes on the roster, not on the building.

The Name Card

The naming logic told straight, for anyone who asks whether the lowercase is a typo. The wrong casings get struck the way an editor strikes them; the third one clocks in. It lives in the lore section of the character bible.

LORE · NO. 3 · FIRST JOB
every shop frames its first dollar. ours is a voicemail.

First Job — the framed voicemail

The first voicemail fernie ever turned into an order, framed the way a shop frames its first dollar. The garbled transcript hangs above the clean lines it became, brass plaque and picture light included. It goes on the office wall and in the lore section of the character bible.

LORE · NO. 4 · THE MANIFESTO
drafts.
creates.

a draft is homework — it implies somebody else finishes. fernie™ finishes: the order written, the math checked, the confirmation ready to go. what's left is the decision, and the decision is yours.

SALES ORDER · READYAPPROVE

Creates, Never Drafts — the manifesto

The reasoning behind the character law's most-corrected verb, told in one strike and one replacement. A draft implies somebody else finishes the work; fernie finishes it, and the grower decides. Internal walls and onboarding decks only.

INTERNAL▸ SETTLES1200x750
LORE · NO. 5 · NIGHT SHIFT
the season doesn't keep business hours.
orders land at 11 PM. trucks book at dawn. spring doesn't wait for Monday. so fernie™ works while the greenhouse is quiet — and the paperwork is on your desk for approval by six.
2:00 AM

The Night-Shift Ethos

Why the character works at 2 AM, told without romance: the season sets the schedule, not the office. Stars come out, one bay stays lit, and the copy lands line by line before the lamp does. It plays on internal screens during onboarding week.

LORE · NO. 6 · THE DESK
the desk is a metaphor. the shift is not.

fernie's Desk — a still-life

The workspace without the worker: a lamp left on, the six states pinned up like family photos, and a plug tray holding down the approved stack. The worker is not in frame — the desk says everything about who sits there. It ships as a wall print for the office, internal only.

INTERNAL▸ SETTLES1080x1080
does fernie sleep?
there is a rest state.
the file says nothing more.
LORE · NO. 7 · THE QUESTION

The Unanswered Question

The one lore question the bible refuses to settle. The lamp comes up, the rest state fades in, and the answer stops after two lines. It hangs near the coffee machine, where the question gets asked most.
